This is a blog where I will place updates about my health and recovery as I continue to mend from the near fatal accident I was involved in on August 15th, 2010. There will be an archival area where the news updates from the previous "NickAycock.com" website will be available to view. This particular area is of more recent posts that have been made by me since I've been able to administer the site and place updates myself. For a short while following my September 27th surgery, there may be some updates made by my family and friends as I may be unable to make the updates myself.

Nick is doing well today. Walked a few steps with walker. He is remarkable! Dr. Woods told us last night that, for now, he is tweeking his pain meds over next few days and then to "Momma JJ' s Rehabilitation Center" on Blue Jay!!! He has some healing to do before next surgery. Praise and prayers are order of the day :)
Juletta Joy Aycock:
Slept pretty well last night. Still no word on the tests from Friday. Nick has finished two antibiotics and has a few days more on last one for Urinary Track Infection. Dr. said it has the potential of e-coli????? When things are so far over this RM's head (registered mom) she simply leaves it in the hands of God! Prayers for my boy please:) Love you all...
Juletta Joy Aycock:
No word on tests...bunking my dainty little body into this cute little chair/bed. Spray it with 'pam' each night...makes it easier to slide out in the am....Seriously, I am grateful to be able to be next to Nick no matter where he sleeps. I miss Dave but know this is only temporary. Please pray for Mom and our family as we make important decisions this next couple of weeks. I pray for strength, wisdom and guidance. Thanks for all of your support!
Juletta Joy Aycock:

Yesterday was a day of many setbacks. It began with Nick vomiting blood; then more blood loss (4 units). After 6 hours of tests and procedures the surgeon had to operate again. there was a new small hole in stomach. some stitches were reinforced. After two hours they felt the problem was solved. Poor guy is back on the ventilator for third time. He has so many mess running they are trying to figure how to add more ports. He has central line and one picc. He is alert off and on. Still bleeding. Please continue to pray...

Nick update - Remember Dr. Dan? Dr. Daniel Naughton who, with God leading the way, saved Nicks life on Aug 15th, 2010, appeared in Nicks room Thursday night at midnight!!!!! He stayed and visited until 3 AM, then headed back to St. Louis. Imagine a surgeon driving round trip to see a former patient just because he promised he would. He is beyond amazing!!!
Juletta Joy Aycock:
Nick is improving daily!!! Late yesterday he was taken off respirator, one chest tube removed. Still carrying fever. Removed pic line to check for infection. Central line still in neck. Keep those prayers flowing...he has a way to go.
Juletta Joy Aycock:

Nick is out of surgery. Had infected hemotoma in abdomen. That was why he was in such pain. pneumonia not known until culture is grown...3 days. Surgeon took care of several things. He will now remain open for a good while with a wound vac. This was setback but he is getting wonderful care. Thanks to Gary, Amanda, Heather & Dave for joining us and all of you who continue to pray for Nick and us. Nick is remarkable; God is amazing!!
Juletta Joy Aycock:
Nick is going back into surgery at 12pm. Lungs have a lot of fluid and gunk, Dr Woods said no blood clots. Nick is losing blood, perhaps the left drain, lower AB. Possible bowel resection. Fever 103.6, blood pressure dropped to 74/31 at one point last night/this am. Heart rate high. Please pull out all stops and let your prayers stream to our Heavenly Father. God bless you all, the mom :)
Juletta Joy Aycock:

They put him back on ventilator before taking tho catscan. They just left for scan. Prayer Warriors, pray most fervently for our Nick. Bless you all.
Juletta Joy Aycock:

Nick had his highly anticipated surgery on September 27th. Dr. Randy Woods performed it in slightly under 14 hours. The staff at Miami Valley Hospital have been wonderful; God has been great! Your prayers are welcomed more than ever as we are blessed by yet another miracle! This is day 5 and he has been taken off of respirator. Pain is intense but being managed. Blessings, Juletta Joy ' MOM'
