What's a foodie to do when he can't eat food (and hasn't been able to for over a year)?  Search high and low for robust and vibrant flavors in liquid form.  Although, I haven't even been able to drink anything util a few months ago either.  Well, I had seen a deal on wine.woot.com for some 1,000 faces coffee and the descriptions to accompany those coffees were written so well it would have made you want to brew Cow dung if that's what they were selling.  I really wanted the coffee's but for $50 after shipping for 4 different coffees (one pound each) I just wasn't ready to buy it.  Over the next couple weeks, I couldn't help but keep thinking about those coffees.  Especially one called "Bell's Blend" which described the taste of Chocolate and "Freshly Spread Peanut Butter."  Now, anyone that know's me knows that I believe that one of the greatest gifts God ever gave us was the combination of Chocolate and Peanut Butter.  So, as the weeks passed and I dwelled on my missed opportunuity to have grabbed that particular Deal of the Day, I found myself faced with it once again in what is known as a "Woot Off."  This is when they sell items until they are out and then move on to the next item, so it's a fast paced sale where there is a new item every 45-60 minutes and if you don't grab it, you miss out.  Not to mention, Woot-off's also tend to be lower prices than previously offered on items.  Fast Forward...I purchased 4 - 1 lb bags of 1,000 faces coffee and today it arrived!  Unfortunately, the package wasn't discovered until about 9:30pm so I missed out on the opportunity to sample the coffee today.

Tomorrow is a different story though!  I have an appointment at the Hospital 9:30, which means we need to be out of the door at 8:15 which in turn means I don't have to get up too terribky early and I'm making tomorrow morning an official event.  Mom is breaking out the White vinegar tonight and cleaning the coffee maker so that the flavors from the Bell's Blend will arrive untainted.  For the heck of it, I decided that I would share the news of my new coffees with everyone and also post the descriptions below.  I think the way that this whole thing is going to play out is that I'm going to end up freezing the coffe and breaking it out after I've recovered enough from my surgery to enjoy  it.  Hopefully, I'll be enjoying it in whatever new place I end up moving to and sharing it with friends over a fresh baked "whatever-I-feel-like-baking."  Without furhter ado, the coffee descriptions that will make friends of enemies just so they can share in the ecstasy that these are sure to bring!  (being that I haven't actually tried any of these yet, I'll be posting an update to this after I get to try some).

Aldo’s Blend
1000 Faces Coffee Company's House dark roast, a peppery, seasoned mix of coffees for their loyal supporters who love their company but find themselves nostalgic for flavor notes reminiscent of Catfish Hunter or Charlie Parker. Named after their hero, Aldo Leopold, for the influence of his writing on environmental ethics and so much more. If a full bodied coffee is what you’re looking for, then this is the choice for you.

Bell’s Blend
A mix of two, shade-grown, Latin American coffees, Bell’s blend is a medium-light roast that invokes taste notes of satisfying, sweet chocolate and freshly spread peanut butter. Bell Hooks, whom the coffee is named for, has spent her life writing, undercutting the systems of oppression that loom above us. 1000 Faces' blend shares the same lively, expressive, and eye-opening qualities as Bell Hooks’ work.

Finca El Injerto
With a dark chocolate taste yielding to sweet plums and other dark fruits, this Guatemalan coffee has a body of sweet flavors, a moderate acidity, and a lingering aftertaste of orange blossom honey. El Injerto is a farm that champions social, environmental, and business responsibility. Each year, the coffee produced by these men and women is award winning and at the forefront of Guatemala’s Cup of Excellence competition.

Finca Herbazu
From the West Valley region of Costa Rica, this coffee is the result of good cultivation and meticulous processing using the farm’s own on site micro mill. Grown halfway up a mountain on the way to Lourdes de Naranjo, Finca Herbazu is characteristically sweet with a Riesling acidity and flavor notes of ripe citrus, caramel, and coffee flowers.

Well, it looks like the new site is going to have no choice but to go up with the dreaded "Site Under Construction" notifier if I'm going to get it up in time.  The site will still be fully functional, just not exactly where I would like it to be and not with all of the cool little things 'in place that I want ton have on here.  But, that gives you all the more reason to keep coming back and checking the site out to see what's new.  Because it's not only going to be articles that will be new, but new features and just cool widgets to check out.  Most of it will be informative stuff about me which you may or may not know about me.  Hey, you never know, we could have more in common than you ever thought!

So, this is my attempt at keeping forward momentum on my site by adding content and easing my frustrations over the small stuff that were halting my progress from creating a nice functioning site.  I plan on writing quite a bit over the next few days as I have MANY ideas for content that I hope you'll find fun, informative, and entertaining.
